If you are REALLY serious about meditation, then this is for you What IS meditation---it is the mind's contemplation and concentration on any ONE POINTED thing---we all are meditating the entire day on so many things but do not make it one pointed---some scientists and inventors brought about miracles by this one pointedness Compare your mind to a restless monkey who has been closed inside a house without windows. What would it do? It is going to jump around from room to room searching for a way out---it doesn't Yoga Workout like being there---but after some time the monkey gets tired and settles down in a corner---looks around the room and tries to find something inside the room to interest it In the beginning, during meditation,our mind keeps going out and various thoughts keep us distracted---we are not really concentrating. It is a matter of PRACTICE and PERSEVERANCE. You increase time you give to meditation---for the first 30 to 40 minutes, your mind is restless---but if you continue meditating, gradually you will find the mind right there---AND THEN YOUR INTERNAL JOURNEY BEGINS---With practice, the mind won't take much time to be there. TIPS--- 1---Choose a fixed time every day 2---Do NOT keep the music on---your mind will go to the music & not remain inside you 3---You have to make the mind busy with uttering some words ( any words having deep spiritual value for you-- eg Lord Jesus, I need you ) ---the words serve the purpose of keeping the mind busy with some sublime message 4---Your mind's tongue is busy uttering words---now make your mind's eye busy creating an image of your Lord, and make your mind's ears busy with trying to listen to your Lord's message to you---You are WITH Him---and you are cut off from the outside world Believe me, it is not easy---but practice makes it easier with time and the REWARDS BEYOND IMAGINATION---it Transforms your very Life https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=1006050624527
